What are the major sexual health issues?

There are several major issues that impact on our community, including sexual assault, violence, discrimination and rejection of people based on their sexuality. There are other sexual health issues that affect young people more than other groups in the community. Australia has a relatively high rate of teenage pregnancy when compared with other developed countries (other than USA). Young people also get more sexually transmitted infections, particularly chlamydia, herpes and warts, indicating that their sexual behaviours are placing them at risk by not practising safer sex. Sexual Health Awareness Week is about educating young people to reduce these sexual health issues.
